TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Chances and Services for Youth, or CASY, is planning two fundraising events that will take place in the coming weeks.
CASY provides services to support the local community and the children who live here through various programs aimed at ensuring the future generation is healthy and safe. The group is “dedicated to helping parents, teachers, childcare providers, and our entire community build brighter futures for children,” according to CASY’s website.
The organization serves 24 counties in the state of Indiana.
“CASY operates out of the Booker T. Washington Community Center, ” says Brandon Halleck, COO of Chances and Services for Youth. “We serve programs from before and after school care, to summer camps, to early childhood education, Big Brothers and Big Sisters mentoring and a host of other things.”
Terre Haute Balloon Festival raises funds for CASY
The Terre Haute Balloon Festival is one of two events coming up that raises funds for CASY. It will be held September 22 & 23 at Fairbanks Park in Terre Haute.
“The weekend events include an evening “glow” of balloons on Friday and Saturday night,” according to an event announcement on social media. “Come out to enjoy live music, food trucks, view the balloons and baskets, and watch the balloon ascension at dusk! Balloon flights and displays are weather dependent, taking place only at dusk when conditions permit.”
Tethered Balloon Rides are $20 per person and will begin after 6:00 p.m. Rides are dependent on the weather. Evening Balloon Glow will begin after sunset and is dependent on the weather. Tethered Balloon rides must be purchased at the event, CASH ONLY!
Stars dancing for a great cause
The second fundraising event coming up is Dancing with the Terre Haute Stars! That will be October 6 at the Hulman Center in Terre Haute.
Since 2007, Dancing with the Terre Haute Stars has grown each year to become one of Terre Haute’s premier fundraisers.
CASY has hosted this event, and since its debut in 2007, this event has helped raise more than $2 million dollars for CASY’s youth programs.
The event is emceed by our Julie Henricks and reporter Jen Thompson will be competing in this year’s contest.
