BRIDGETON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– One of the state’s most loved places wanted to show people what goes on behind the scenes.
Bridgeton Mill had their Milling Day where people could see live demonstrations of all the things at the mill. The event started began in honor of Oliver Evans.
Evans designed and built the world’s first factor along with many other things that revolutionized this field. Events like these are the lifeblood of the mill because they are not funded by the government.
Mike Roe is the owner of the Bridgeton Mill, and he expresses his thankfulness for the continued support of his business.
“We’ve managed to save the building and now instead of an ugly eye sore, which some people thought it was, it has become one of the top 20 reasons to love Indiana. It’s a blessing. It truly is a blessing.”
Roe also wanted to thank all of the volunteers that make events like these possible.
“A lot of the things that we do here at the mill require a lot of volunteers. I have been blessed over the years with having some of the most helpful people in the area have my back. The mill wouldn’t be what it was today without the help of all of them,” added Roe.
Next month even bigger crowds will be in Bridgeton when the Covered Bridge Festival makes its return.
