VIGO Co., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – With two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state of Indiana, local officials are continuing to discuss precautionary measures, especially as it relates to school response.
At Saturday’s legislative Crackerbarrel session, the public raised concerns about how schools should address the Coronavirus.
Vigo County School officials, such as Superintendent Rob Hayworth questioned whether or not administrators would need to honor the 180 day requirement in the event that schools would close due to the spread of illness.
Senator Jon Ford said it’s important for educators to have the ability to be flexible.
“I think we have to have a deep discussion about that. At the moment, I’ve really not had any discussions because when the governor came out with the state of emergency we were all out of Indianapolis and back in our districts. So that’ll be something mMonday that hopefully we’ll have a talk about,” Senator Ford said.
There are no confirmed cases of the Coronavirus in Vigo County.
