VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — At 7:35 pm on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, the Vincennes Police Department issued the following release about a shooting incident in Vincennes.
On Friday (02/23/2024), at around 1:15PM, Officers with the Vincennes Police Department were dispatched to the area of Bowman Terrace housing complex after Knox County Central Dispatch had received an E911 call in reference to a report of a possible shooting.
During the investigation it was determined that 2 suspect juveniles were allegedly involved, and both juveniles are in custody.
During this incident Tecumseh Harrison Elementary School was placed on “lockdown” until the area was deemed safe.
There is no current threat to the community and this incident remains under investigation.

Earlier story: A representative of Vincennes Police has confirmed that a shooting incident occurred in Vincennes on Friday.
Few details have been released, but police said victims were being treated at an area hospital, and that as of 2:40 p.m. the situation is “under control.”
The incident occurred near Bowman Terrace on Jefferson Avenue. The public is asked to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
Vincennes Community School Corporation Superintendent Greg Parsley confirmed that a school in the area went on a “soft lockdown” at the advisement of police for a time. However, Parsley said police informed them that the suspects had been apprehended about an hour later and that the school is back to “business as usual.” Parsley said the incident was not directly related to the school and the move was made out of caution for the safety of the students.
