TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Terre Haute Farmers Market kicked off its 2024 season on Saturday.
Due to the cold weather, the market was inside the Meadows Shopping Center. Officials say this is a great way to get out in the community during a time where things are usually more secluded.
Carrie Schoffstall is the market manager, and she explains the importance of supporting local businesses throughout the year.
“We think supporting local and shopping local are important year-round. It gives us a chance to continue to support our makers, bakers, and farmers even when the weather is cold and gray. It gives our customers and shoppers a chance to stay connected and continue to get the products they love all summer,” said Schoffstall.
She also wanted to emphasize how great that everything here is homemade.
“All the products that are sold here are earlier grown, made, or produced by the owners. That has so much importance in this community because it is putting money back into the pockets of hardworking people,” added Schoffstall.
The next market will be held Saturday, Feb. 3rd.
