ROBINSON, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Two Lincoln Trail College students have finished 6th in the nation at the Future Business Leaders of America Collegiate National Leadership Conference.
Placing within the top ten places for the second year in a row, LTC students Madisyn McIntosh and Krista Phillips competed in the Business Presentation category. The two students worked on a presentation that researched the benefits and hindrances of working entirely in an office, working entirely from home, and having a hybrid schedule.
The subject of the presentation was chosen by the FBLA as several businesses are currently assessing remote work with the experience of the pandemic while many who began remote work during the peak are questioning a return to the office.
Lincoln Trail College FBLA Collegiate advisor Amie Mayhall expressed pride in their performance at the competition.
“Madisyn and Krista competed against the top performers from each state. They not only rose to the top of the Illinois rankings, but also the nation,” Mayhall said. “I’m very proud of both of them, and I believe when our students are able to compete at this level it is a good reminder that their possibilities in life are wide open.”
Mayhall, who also teaches business classes at LTC, said that this win also helps to show that Lincoln Trail College is a great place for students interested in business to take courses. Mayhall also noted that students are able to take business courses at LTC and then transfer to a four-year college after earning their Associate’s Degree.
