GREENWOOD, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Clay City Eels come up short in the state championship, 3-1.
Addi Baker hits a 2-run home run in the top of the 7th that turns out to be the game-winner for Northfield.
Elyssa Secrest says, “It’s been an amazing ride. It does suck that we fell short, but with these girls it’s been amazing and knowing that it’s my last year is hard.”
Charly Koehler says, “I am so proud. Everyone worked so hard. We come to practice every day work hard and do our best. The tables didn’t fall how we wanted to tonight and that’s okay.”
Jason Sinders says, “We had a great year. I made a couple of coaching moves that were bad. I should’ve walked that last girl that hit the home run. I thought we would hit a little better and if you would’ve told me were going to do this at the beginning of the year I would’ve told you that you were crazy. We’ve had a great year and hats off to Northfield, they got the big hits when they needed. You live and learn. That’s why you play the game.”
The Eels wrap up the softball season as the Class A State Runner Up.
