Hey, what’s up? It’s AJ. I do the “Midday” thing on MIX-FM from 10a-3p weekdays. I’ve been with the station happily since 2008. I started in Milwaukee radio in 1995, while studying at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha. Before MIX, I was was the Afternoon-drive host, Imaging Director, and Assistant Program Director for a station in Green Bay, WI for almost 10 years.
It’s been awesome so far because I’ve been able to interview people like Tommy Lee and Matt Damon, to famous musicians including Train, Katy Perry, Chris Daughtry, Buckcherry, Matchbox 20 and a bunch more. I LOVE being in front of a crowd, so my favorite moment was being asked to host the nationally broadcast NFL Kickoff Concert in front of 100,000 people. Plus, I’ve broadcasted live internationally from places like Mexico and Jamaica, which helped me get nominated for Broadcaster of the year.
I love to help out wherever I can, and have been a part of local development and fundraising for The American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, March of Dimes, Special Olympics and numerous animal shelters and humane societies.
I’m a big runner, having just completed my first full marathon. I love to go biking, swimming, cook outside and do crazy things like repelling down a 200 foot walls.
As I’ve posted before on MyMixFM.Com, my high school picture is slightly embarrassing. I had hair past my shoulders, a full beard, and John Lennon glasses. If that look does it for you, then you should totally travel back in time and go to prom with me ‘cuz it didn’t work for the ladies.
I like to be goofy, so I try to embarrass myself in front of my wife as much as possible. Also, I laugh when people get mad. On the phone or in person. So anger never works with me, you’ll just get more angry because I uncontrollably laugh while you are yelling. Plus, I’m always right. Just kidding….sort of.
I’m proud of Terre Haute. Hey, it was voted “Community of the Year” in 2010. The Terre Haute Rex is fun to have in town because I love baseball. Is it weird that I think it’s cool that the head Somali pirate who captured Captain Phillips is incarcerated here? Sorry, I saw the movie and seeing Terre Haute on the screen at the end made me proud in a weird way.
