TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Tickets are now on sale for a local charity’s annual fundraiser that helps to promote awareness on the issues of food insecurity and hunger throughout the community,
Terre Haute Catholic Charities 2024 Soup Bowl Benefit tickets are now on sale as of Monday, January 1, 2024. The 14th Soup Bowl Benefit will take place on Saturday, February 3 at the Maryland Community Church.
“Last year’s Soup Bowl Benefit raised a little over $20,000 which equates to 85,000 meals that we were able to provide with an event that lasts just a couple of hours,” Catholic Charities Terre Haute Development Manager Jessica Murphy said. “So this event allows us to make a really big impact to those food insecure individuals and I would love to see us beat that number this year.”
The public is asked to join the organization as they partner with local businesses and people in the community to help feed those struggling with food insecurity.
The tickets are $30 for one handcrafted bowl and samples of soup from local chefs and restaurants. All the proceeds for the event will benefit the Terre Haute Catholic Charities Foodbank.
“This year we’ve got [the bowls] from local high school students, local artists,” Murphy said. “Some bright colors. There’s some that are more neutrals. Every single one is different and unique. They’re all different sizes, shapes, colors. We have some that are thrown on a pottery wheel. We have some that are pinched by hand.”
To secure a spot for the event, purchase your tickets at the 14th Annual Soup Bowl Benefit webpage.
