Indiana State University

Lucy Lunsford
I have been the Controller at the Indiana State University Foundation for 4 years now. In my previous career, I worked in public accounting with 3 local firms: Kemper CPA Group, Hobbs and Company, Inc., and Perkins CPA Group. As a student of the Scott College of Business at Indiana State University, I started my first internship with Kemper CPA Group. I then received my first full-time position as Staff Accountant at Kemper after graduating with a major in Accounting and a minor in Insurance. I worked there for about 5 years working myself up to Senior Staff Accounting.

I then decided to work for a good friend at Hobbs and Company, Inc.. The owner decided to retire, and we were then merged into Ryan Perkins CPA Group in the fall of 2020.
I married at a young age to Evan Lunsford on December 17th, 2011. I received my CPA certification in December of 2014. As years went by, we were blessed with two beautiful, strong baby boys, Daniel and Joseph Lunsford. We were all born and raised in Parke County, Indiana where we still currently live. The most favorite thing we love to do as a family is travel. I don’t think we ever get tired of doing that together, and I hope that continues for a very long time.
When I completed my last tax season in the spring of 2021, I knew I wanted to make a career change to better serve my family. The Controller position was posted at the Foundation, and I knew it was a great opportunity to try something new and give back to my alma mater. Ever since that decision, I have worked with some really great leadership. We just wrapped up the Be So Bold Campaign, and it was very humbling to be a part of such an exciting time for the Foundation. I could not do anything without my staff. They are the root that fuels my accomplishments, and I am so grateful for each of them. I love my job and I love Indiana State University.
During my spare time, I love anything Disney, reading books, and spending quality time with my friends and family, particularly my wonderful husband and two amazing boys. I also currently attend Cross Lane Community Church in north Terre Haute where I help volunteer teach the Kindergarten to 2nd Grade class once a month. I thank God for everything He has provided to me, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without Him.
