Bio
How did I get my start?
I graduated from Indiana State University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication with a focus on Electronic Media. During my time there, I was super lucky to be a part of the ISU Radio team in a number of different roles. I’d never done radio before (but I’d always liked hearing my own voice) so I thought I’d give it a try. I worked as an on-air DJ, the Assistant Promotions Director, Program Director, and Student Station Manager over the course of three plus years and that experience helped me land a part-time gig with HI99 and (EVENTUALLY!) a full-time position, too!
What is my favorite or MOST memorable interview?
It’s too soon to say! BUT my FIRST artist interview was with Jordan Davis and it was really cool because I’m a big fan of his!
Best part about working in radio?
Working in radio is a good gig because you never have the same day twice – which I guess could be good OR bad! Honestly, it’s fun because you never know what they day will bring, who you get to meet, and what once in a lifetime experience may float your way!
If I could do it all over again, with no stipulations/no money involved/ no age limit; what would I be doing?
Well… I’ve still got a couple of good years ahead of me so if this thing doesn’t work out I might have time to recover. BUT If I could be ANYTHING, I’d want to be the person that comes up with new ways to eat potatoes…because that’s the dream! Or an actress. Or an author. Or one of those people that NASA pays to sleep for months at a time.
What I’m saying is: I have many varied interests.
Most technological change since I started working in radio?
It’s too soon to tell! Ask me when I’m old and pushing 36!
How would I describe your first radio gig?
SO FAR, SO GOOD! I’ll let you know if something changes!
What artist would you be surprised to find on my iPod?
I like all kinds of music! Some of the surprising artists in my library include Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, Frankie Valli, Bob Seger, Tom Petty, Hall & Oates, Adele, Backstreet Boys, and even more random music.
Do I have a favorite hobby outside of radio?
Sleeping/Eating/Reading/Crafting/Making My Dog Wear Sweaters
What advice would I give people new to the business?
DO THE WORK! You need to be willing to learn everything and do as much as you can because (even when you don’t want to) it will pay off!
What’s the biggest gaffe I’ve made on-air?
I don’t make mistakes. DUH.
(But if I did… It would be hitting the wrong button and accidentally skipping a couple of songs and praying that nobody noticed.)
Name an artist/act (living or dead) I’d love to meet and why?
TOM HANKS! He just seems like human hug and I’m obsessed with him. He could slap me in the face and I’d say thank you. HE’S THE BEST.
Which celebrity do I get mistaken for?
Kevin from The Office.
What is one truth that has held constant throughout your career?
Work hard and do your best!
Would I rather watch a sitcom, a reality show, a police drama, a legal drama or a medical drama? Or something else? Why?
I’m all about sitcoms like The Office or How I Met Your Mother – particularly watching an entire season in a day like the rest of the Millennial population.
What would I do if I had a million dollars?
I would hide 90% of it away in a bank account and spend the rest on a nice house and a mountain of various fried cheeses.
If someone offered me 50 dollars to sing karaoke on your show, would you do it?
I’D SING KARAOKE FOR FREE and have many times to the chagrin of dozens of other patrons in the bar who have – I’m sure – considered suing me fair pain and suffering.
Q: Where are you from?
A: Fairbanks, IN
Q: What was your favorite live concert?
A: Luke Bryan!
Q: What are you reading right now?
A: The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware (I’m only like 10 pages in, so no spoilers!)
Q: Where do you like to vacation?
A: My couch.
Q: If you were not a radio personality what would be your dream job?
A: I’d want to be the person that comes up with new ways to eat potatoes…because that’s the dream! Or an actress. Or an author. Or one of those people that NASA pays to sleep for months at a time.
Q: Is there someone you idolize that you wish you could be more like?
A: I’d love to be more like Miranda Lambert or Anna Kendrick; They’re both unapologetically themselves and it’s awesome!
Q: What was your favorite subject in School?
A: English or History (sometimes even MATHHH!)
Q: What motivates you?
A: The crippling fear of failure. Also: providing a better life (and more sweaters) for my dog.
Q: What is the strangest or worst job you’ve ever had?
A: I’ve only had a handful but the worst job I’ve had was working fast food at a small local restaurant. It was hot and stressful and I always went home covered in grease and ice cream…which isn’t too far from this job, to be honest.
