TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — At Terre Haute City Hall on Monday morning the Board of Public Works heard about a potential new road near the Terre Haute Regional Airport.
City Engineer Marcus Maurer says the city and the airport are looking into a possible connector road being constructed. It would connect State Road 46 to Hunt Road and be located about halfway between Hulman and State Road 42.
Maurer said the idea is still in its early stages with the airport funding a study to look at the feasibility of such a project.
He added that the study aims to determine what will best serve continued growth on the city’s east side.
“See what type of traffic control device or what will be allowed there, or what would be best,” Maurer said. “Going to look at drainage along the corridor, going to look at roadway profiles and a couple of different options for the roadway, whether it’s a boulevard section, or three lane section, or a two lane section.”
Maurer estimates the study will be underway until the summer.
