TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute man has been arrested and charged with possessing hundreds of photos and videos of child sex abuse material.
According to jail records, Anthony D. Orman of Terre Haute was arrested on November 1, documents filed in Vigo County Court show the arrest was the result of a months-long investigation that began with a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children cyber tip.
A probable cause affidavit reveals that the initial tip was actually a collection of 10 tips that originated with a company that provides cloud storage for Verizon Wireless. Investigators eventually would link the phone number provided in the tips to a cell phone allegedly possessed by Orman.
Law enforcement filed a search warrant for the data and would discover over 400 images and videos depicting child sex abuse material. Police said the images depict children as young as infants up to about 12 years old.
On October 24 a search of Orman’s suspected residence was performed only to find that the property appeared to be abandoned. Further investigation would lead police to a residence in the 800 block of S. 6th street in Terre Haute where surveillance of the property eventually located Orman on the first of November.
While arresting Orman, police said a small bag of meth and a pipe were discovered. A search of the home, and a semi-truck that Orman reportedly drives turned up numerous electronic devices which were taken to the ISP Bloomington District headquarters for a forensic download. The results of which were pending at the time the affidavit was filed.
Orman reportedly refused to speak to police about the matter and demanded an attorney.
He was subsequently booked into the Vigo County Jail where he remains held in custody on a $50,000 bond with no 10% allowed. Court records show that Orman is scheduled to make his first appearance with counsel in Vigo County Superior Court 6 at 1:30 p.m. on November 14.
Orman has been charged with the following;
- Possession of child pornography – aggravating factor found (x4)
- A level 5 felony
- Possession of methamphetamine
- A level 6 felony
- Possession of Paraphernalia
- A class C misdemeanor
