TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — To prepare for the upcoming events that will take place around the April 2024 solar eclipse, the Terre Haute Children’s Museum announced a Community Eclipse Ambassador program.
Any community organizations that are interested in playing a role in the eclipse event will have a chance to get involved. The program will provide resources including educational materials, training, and equipment in preparation for the eclipse.
The program aims to create accessibility and enthusiasm for the event throughout the Wabash Valley by encouraging organizations to host fun and safe educational eclipse celebrations in their own communities. The program helps to ensure that more people can have access to the Terre Haute Children’s Museum and the resources it provides, regardless of economic status or location within the Wabash Valley.
The Terre Haute Children’s Museum has announced that 30 organizations have been selected to be involved in the program so far and received 50 applications. The chosen applicants represent local businesses, organizations, and/or local municipalities that serve Vigo County and surrounding areas.
“We are thrilled with the response we received from area organizations, and we would love to have taken all of them as community eclipse ambassadors. Unfortunately, our funding is only for 30 organizations, but we are willing to provide information and resources to all those who are interested in being an eclipse stakeholder. We want to reach as many people as we can to get out and experience this event in their own backyard,” stated Stacy Killion, Community Engagement Manager at Terre Haute Children’s Museum.
