TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Local elementary school students rocked through the decades on Friday with an event to make the school day extra fun.
On Friday, Ouabache Elementary School celebrated “Rock Your School” — an initiative by “Get Your Teach On, a program designed to increase student engagement.
Each grade level was given a different decade to study, and the students got to dress the part.
Principal Haley Ringwald said the goal was to enhance learning in a fun way.
“Students we want them to be able to want to come to school, that’s the goal, and so we know that in order for them to want to be here, they have to feel loved but, they also want to be able to have some fun and any time we put extra effort into things, I think those students see that we want to enjoy each other together and have that relationship and I think that’s what makes it so special,” Ringwald said.
Ringwald also noted this is something she hopes to have the school do again in the future.
