TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — To celebrate 50 years of charitable efforts, Terre Haute Catholic Charities has set a goal of raising $50,000 in a special Week of Giving.
According to Catholic Charities Community Engagement Coordinator Brittany Earl, the Week of Giving will be held September 18 through September 22. The week will end with a celebratory cookout in the parking lot east of Ryves Youth Center from 11:30 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. that Friday.
Earl also noted that a number of organizations and individuals have committed to matching donations, allowing each donation to be multiplied up to a certain point.
Assistant Agency Director Jennifer Tames said their mission is to provide help and to create hope through many services like providing food, safe shelter, youth programming, and essential, personal, and household needs.
Tames added that the Week of Giving will help ensure Catholic Charities’ programs are sustainable long into the future.
“We at Catholic Charities recognize the value of not just being there today to help our neighbors but ensuring that we can be there in the long term and part of this week of giving and raising $50,000 will help us to ensure that we can be sustainable in the long run,” Tames said.
“The vision of Catholic Charities is to support and empower our neighbors on their journey toward stability by providing help and essential resources. Countless donors, volunteers, and community partners, make it possible but there is still work to do! Whether helping a senior enjoy a healthy meal, providing stability for a family seeking safe shelter or positively impacting the life of a local child, with the help of people like YOU, the next 50 years will continue to make Catholic Charities a pillar of hope to our neighbors!”
