SULLIVAN, COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Sullivan High School graduate who was killed in 2005 in Afghanistan will be honored at a NASCAR race on Saturday.
Private first class Kyle Snyder was only 21 when he and three other Indiana National Guardsmen were killed when they drove over a land mine.
Synder’s name has been placed on Harmon Racing’s number 74 car. That car will be in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Synder’s cousin, Sarah Bell said the family is proud of the honor.
“It’s very exciting because this year would have been his 40th birthday also. It’s kinda near because we picked this year with being a milestone birthday,” Bell said.
Snyder was a 2002 graduate of Sullivan High School.
