TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Local folks hit the links today to raise money to benefit Ivy Tech Terre Haute Scholarships.
It was for their 23rd annual Scholarship Scramble at Hulman Links Golf Course. About 30 teams took part in Friday’s event.
The event is also supported by sponsorships from many local businesses including the First Financial Bank. Which has been the title sponsor since the event began in the late 1990s.
The scholarships support general scholarship applications so any Ivy Tech students are eligible to apply.
“This event makes sure those financial barriers that are sometimes in the way of our students being able to pursue their academic journey are able to be eliminated or diminished so they can continue to persist in their programs.,” said Rachel Mullinnix, Executive Director of the Ivy Tech Terre Haute Foundation.
Mullinnix said they anticipate net proceeds of nearly $25,000 from this year’s event. Nearly half a million dollars has been raised for Ivy Tech Students’ Scholarships since this event began.
