BRAZIlL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A historic aircraft that sits on the lawn of the Clay County Courthouse has been restored.
The aircraft is an F-86 Sabre Jet that flew in the Korean War. Brazil Mayor, Brian Wyndham, said its condition had deteriorated.
So, with the help of funding from Duke Energy, the aircraft has been restored to how it would have looked when it was in service. Photographs found by a local veteran helped create this piece of history.
“It gave us a baseline to work with to recreate it to the way it should be looking and the correct decals on it and the correct numbering on it and the size of those decals,” Wyndham said.
Wyndham said the aircraft is on loan to the city from Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
