TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Thousands of people made their way to the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds Saturday to shop local during the Spring Wildflower Market.
It marks the first event of the year for the Wildflower Market, which is currently in its third year. Host Lacey Robinson said they had over 140 vendors, their largest ever.
She said she was happy to see the growth of the event over the past two years.
“It’s very heartwarming,” she said. “It’s been fantastic to see everybody. People shop, and when COVID came around, it really transitioned people and how they shop and getting out. To see these small businesses grow to their potential, and be able to support families, it’s really wonderful to see.”
Vendors came from as far as Fort Wayne and Evansville on Saturday. Robinson said she focused on trying to find something for everybody to enjoy.
“There is something here for everybody– stained glass, woodwork, clothing boutiques, children’s boutiques, face painting, there is everything,” she said. “Even something for the men, there’s a whiskey distillery.”
Her favorite part so far is seeing the community that’s built over time.
“What’s fantastic is it’s one big family. Everybody in this market, if you need something, we’re here to help,” she said. “There’s a lot of things that have been added over time so it just gets better.”
The next market will be back at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds on April 29th, previewing Mother’s Day.
