TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Update: The total amount raised from the radiothon was $84,220.
A local radio station, will once again, participate in the 33rd Annual St. Jude Radiothon to help raise donations for the hospital.
HI-99 radio will host the event Wednesday, Feb. 15, and Thursday, Feb. 16. The live radiothon runs for two days from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and encourages listeners to donate to the cause.
The event will feature stories from St. Jude patients and families, exciting incentives, and a few special guests. HI-99 has been a supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for over three decades. It hosted the first St. Jude Radiothon locally in 1991, and during that time the Wabash Valley community has helped raise more than $1.8 million for the children of St. Jude.
Baley Halberstadt, Midday Host and Promotions Director for HI-99 said in a press release that she grew up listening to the stories of patients in their toughest battles. She added, “Now, it’s my genuine privilege to sit behind the mic, amplifying those same messages of hope. It’s a tradition we’ll proudly continue until the thought of a child dying of cancer is just that – a fading memory, not a reality.”
