GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — With a round of snowfall expected to deposit a good amount of snow around the Wabash Valley this week, local emergency management is sounding the alarm.
Greene County Emergency Management Agency Director Roger Axe is advising residents to prepare ahead of time ahead of the arrival of the wintery weather expected to hit the area late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
“Old Man Winter is about to remind us he is still around.” Roger Axe said. “A winter snow storm is predicted to hit Greene County sometime early Wednesday Morning.”
Much of the area is under a Winter Storm Warning from late Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon.
We have a Winter Storm Warning in effect tonight and tomorrow and a Winter Weather Advisory for our far southeastern counties. Rain will change to snow overnight and early tomorrow. The heaviest snow totals will come in the early part of Wednesday.

Axe advises residents to prepare for the coming snow by completing errands ahead of Wednesday evening. Residents should also be sure they have plenty of food, fuel, medication, and other necessary household supplies should the snow end up on the heavier side of predictions.
Axe says If you must travel keep these items in mind:
• Slow down and adjust travel to conditions, especially on snow covered roads.
• Never tailgate or drive beside a snowplow, the driver’s visibility may be limited.
• The safest place on the road during a winter storm is behind a snowplow, but if you must pass, do so carefully.
• Be prepared in case of a crash and becoming stranded; always carry an emergency kit in your vehicle with food, water, a phone charger, sand or cat litter, flares or bright LED alternatives, a flashlight, and blankets.
• Keep your vehicle full of gas.
• Keep a shovel in your car to dig out around your tires and your tailpipe if needed.
• Make sure your vehicle battery is strong, fluids are at the appropriate levels, and your spare tire is properly inflated.
• Don’t forget gas line anti-freeze for your vehicles.
• Park vehicles facing out of your driveway so vehicles can pull out instead of backing out.
