TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Serendipity Salon is partnering with Ryves Youth Center by holding a drive-thru toy donation.
On Saturday, Nov. 26 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. people can stop by Serendipity Salon and donate toys to support the Ryves Youth Center annual Christmas Party. Carolers from the ISU Music Program and Northview Matching Knights will be performing popular Christmas songs during the event. All the donations given will help to provide local children participating in after-school programs with a gift for the holidays.
The Ryves Youth Center works with local kids from ages 3-17, providing a safe place for them to reach their full potential and feel accepted. Offering multiple programs that support the educational, social, and physical development of children in the community, the Ryves Youth Center is open Monday through Friday and provides supervised activities, tutoring, mentoring, counseling, and dinner for every child that attends.
“From January through October 2022, 473 youth have participated in activities at the Youth Center. This year we hope to provide the joy of Christmas to about 150 children during our annual Christmas Party,” said Jim Pinkstaff, Program Director at Ryves Youth Center. “The biggest draw to our annual party is the gift giveaway. Each child receives three gifts that value at least $10 each. Gifts for our teenagers are always needed.”
While all donations are accepted and helpful, the Ryves Youth Center is in greater need of gifts aimed at teenagers, things like earbuds and fragrance sets, or other items suited for teens.
