TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The search is on for minority-owned businesses who want to help build the new Queen of Terre Haute Casino Resort.
The West Central Indiana Small Business Development Center is hosting a Diversity Outreach Event for local minority-owned businesses in Vigo and surrounding counties. Business owners can learn more about the bid packages being offered. Some of the work that needs to be completed includes carpentry, painting, tiling, and much more.
“We will have the key players from both the construction group for the casino project and then individuals and reps for Churchill Downs,” Courtney Chipol with West Central Indiana Small Business Development Center said. “Because the set-asides for minority-owned businesses are not only for the construction side but for ongoing casino operations.”
Businesses owned by women, minorities, or service-disabled veterans can also get help to become certified as such.
“We’re gonna have people there to help people know if they haven’t started the process yet, we can help them, so they’ll still be eligible to take advantage of these opportunities,” said Chipol.
The event will be held Tuesday, October 11 from 3-5 p.m. at ISU’s Scott College of Business. For more information, or to register online, visit the small business development center’s website here.
