TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — It’s a busy time for the 14th and Chestnut Community Center in Terre Haute as it gears up for its summer programming for kids.
Children K-12 will be able to participate in a variety of activities at the center, they will also receive free breakfast and lunch. The center is looking for high school and college aged volunteers to be leaders for the kids.
They are also accepting donations like food, school supplies, gently used clothing, and monetary donations.
“Summer is a really big financial part for us for the summer with paying the extra staff that’s here and field trips that we do and extra supplies that we need,” said the Co-Director of the center Connor Scanlon.
Meanwhile, the center’s Mother Hubbard’s Food Pantry is also in need of food donations. The food pantry is open on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. until noon. They’re looking for donations of foods like cereal, mac and cheese and meat.
“Anything that you think a family would enjoy or have for food, that’s what we need,” said volunteer George Ralston.
