VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vincennes, Ind. fire officials launched an active investigation Thursday afternoon into a large structure fire that resulted in heavy smoke.
The Vincennes Fire Department was dispatched around 12:45 p.m. Jan. 6 to the area of 1605 E. St. Clair Street, according to Battalion Chief Jim Beaman. In total, over 30 firefighters worked for around three hours to contain the fire, Beaman said.
No one was injured in the fire, Beaman added, and there is no safety threat to the public at this time. VFD has launched an investigation into the fire’s cause and damage, with the Indiana Division of Fire and Building Safety assisting.
The address affected in the fire was the location of the Mischler Expediters business, and Beaman confirmed Thursday the business was affected but could not give any more information regarding damage. It is unknown at this time what caused the fire, Beaman said.
