TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Happiness Bag in Terre Haute, Ind. received a big contribution to its capital campaign on Thursday, which will help the organization expand.
The group received $235,453 from the “Diana Williams – Jay Chickadaunce Estate”. Happiness Bag Executive Director Jodi Moan said Diana was a local advocate for not only her son Jay, but for many people in the Wabash Valley.
Diana’s adoptive son, Jonathan Bolin, presented the check to Happiness Bag Thursday.
“The relationship that Jay and Diana had not only with me personally but with the entire organization, it has rekindled the friendship that Jon and I had 30 plus years ago,” Moan said.
“This community has stuck together and that’s important to us and to Diana,” Bolin said. “As I said earlier, she preached to not leave a legacy, but to leave a future and these people are the future.”
Happiness Bag’s expansion will add classrooms, a computer lab, a music room and other spaces, allowing it to serve more people.
