SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Sullivan community is mourning the death of two city residents killed in a crash early Tuesday morning.
38-year-old Ashley Hedden and her 10-year-old daughter Grace Hedden were both two killed in the crash.
Christy Pearison, a lifelong Sullivan resident, knew the duo. She said that with Sullivan being such a small community, everyone felt the loss.
“Anytime you have somebody pass away in the community especially in such a small town like Sullivan, it’s a hard loss for everyone,” Pearison said. “It’s something that you feel in your heart just by hearing the news.”
Pearison explained that even community who did not know the Hedden family will still feel the effect of the tragic loss.
“Even if you don’t directly know them, you know somebody that does know them,” Pearison said. “It’s a hard day for everyone.”
Sullivan Elementary School, where Grace Hedden attended school, said in a statement on Facebook that it will be providing support services at the school on Wednesday.
