TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A week ago, the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine became the first shot to gain full FDA approval.
Since that announcement, health departments in the Wabash Valley are experience a slight increase in first and third dose shots.
“The clinic said that they’re seeing a lot of first dose and third dose for people who are immunocompromised,” Vigo County Health Department Media Coordinator Roni Elder said. “We’re really seeing people coming from all directions.”
The increase in vaccinations comes at a time where many counties in West Central Indiana are in the red COVID-19 advisory level. Sullivan County is the newest addition to those counties in red.
Many local counties fall between a 34% and 48% percent vaccination rate. Vigo County leads the way the 48% vaccination rate.
The Vigo County Health Department is having a mobile clinic tomorrow at West Terre Haute IGA from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
