INDIANAPOLIS (WTWO/WAWV) — Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb signed House Enrolled Act 1006 Monday alongside the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield, Ind.
The bill issues $70 million to update the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. It also mandates that de-escalation training is taught during use of force education for officers.
Additionally, the bill establishes procedures allowing the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board to decertify an officer if they are involved in criminal misconduct. The law will also create a new records sharing process for officers between agencies.
