TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Wabash Valley Road Runners set the pace Saturday during their Swamp Stomp at Hawthorn Park. It came after Terre Haute received its Runner Friendly Community designation earlier this week.
Majel Wells, membership director of the Wabash Valley Road Runners, said, “As a club, we’ve been really excited. It’s something that we’ve been able to use as a platform for getting the word out about our club and what we do in the community. It’s just been that added confidence that we know we bring to the running community.”
San Antonio, Texas was named with Terre Haute as an official Runner Friendly Community for 2020-2025 by the Road Runners Club of America.
The Swamp Stomp was a five-mile run/four-mile walk with a one-mile option available. The club’s next event is a half-marathon on May 8. Its next race is a one-mile run from Brown Boulevard to ISU Memorial Stadium on July 3.
