TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Baesler’s Market commemorated Supermarket Employee Day by honoring its employees with shirts, signs and meals for workers.
The Food Industry Association proclaimed Feb. 22 as Supermarket Employee Day as a day to recognize employees at every level for their hard work, particularly during the pandemic, when they tried their hardest to make sure everyone had what they needed.
“Definitely on the front lines, you know, when you think of everywhere shut down except for basically hospitals, grocery stores and supermarkets, you know we were here stocking shelves and making sure all of our customers had the essentials that they needed,” said Kristine O’Hare, marketing communications manager for Baesler’s.
Baesler’s catered in lunch and dinner for all employees to make sure they felt honored.
“It’s just a day to recognize your supermarket employees and grocery store employees, just to say thank you, just to recognize that not only do they do the hard work during the easier times but we do the hard work during the hard times, too,” O’Hare said.
