TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — With lots of programs to choose from, there is something for every child, at Terre Haute’s Boys and Girls Club, including something for Thaddeus Greven.
“I usually play basketball. sometimes, football outside, but yeah,” said Greven.
The club provides snacks and meals for kids. There’s even a bus that will pick them up after school, if they need a ride to the club.
“We want to work with all of our families to make sure that these kids have somewhere to go, something to do. They’re not just going home after school and doing whatever. We want them to have something to feel like they are part of the community here,” said Brigham Wuest, Athletic Director for the Terre Haute Boys and Girls Club.
Wuest said the facility and its sports programs are very popular.
“In all of our sports we have kids that request other kids in our program. They want to all be a part of the same team and they just love being together here and forming those relationships,” said Wuest.
There’s also tutoring and other non-sports activities and even a summer camp, that Thaddeus likes.
“Yeah, there’s a lot of things to do. It’s super fun and during the summer you go on field trips,” said Greven.
It costs 30 dollars a year to join the boys and girls club and scholarships are available for all of the sports programs. Membership is available for ages 5 to 18.
Registry for the athletic programs are open until October 24th for all grades K-8th and open until December 30th for 6-7th grade boys. To learn more, visit Home : Terre Haute Boys & Girls Club.
