TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: As of 1:15 p.m., Sgt. Ames reports the ramp to I-70 from U.S. 40 has been opened.
Original: Crews are working to clear the scene of a semi-truck rollover crash on Interstate-70 that’s caused the closure of an entry ramp.
According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames, the crash occurred at 11 a.m. Tuesday near the 1 mile marker of I-70 westbound near the entrance ramp from U.S. 40.
Ames said the driver drifted to the left side of the roadway and overcorrected, and was unable to regain control as the semi traveled off the north side of the roadway and rolled over.
The driver was uninjured in the single-vehicle crash.
Ames said the crash caused some sort of hazmat spill that was being cleaned up by workers with Peffley & Hinshaw Wrecker Service.
Ames expected the entrance ramp to remain closed for at least an hour as crews clean up the scene.
In addition to Indiana State Police, Sugarcreek Fire Department assisted at the scene.
