TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Saturday residents got the chance to hang out with some furry friends courtesy of the Sisters of Providence.
The Alpaca Friends Open Barn event gave people the chance to learn more about these animals. They are very helpful to the farm environment in more ways than one.
They also got the opportunity to take photos, feed, and pets the alpacas as well. However, the main purpose of this event is still to learn about these unique animals.
Tara Elmore is the farm projects coordinator at the White Violet Center, and she expresses her love for these cuddly creatures.
“They are our ambassadors of sustainability. They do wonderful things for our farm. From their manure, all the way to their fiber, but also when I get to come to work every day with these animals, I feel truly grateful, and I like to be able to share that with the rest if the community as well,” said Elmore.
She also wanted to add how much she enjoys seeing the enjoyment of others while around them.
“It is always so enjoyable to see the reactions on people’s faces when they realize how gentle and loving these animals are. They are one of the most fun animals to be around and it is always nice to see when other people realize it too,” added Elmore.
If you missed out, don’t worry. There is going to be another chance to see seem on December 9th.
