ROSEDALE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – It’s officially time to start decorating for Christmas and one family goes above and beyond for the community.
Ever since the 1980’s, the Keltz family has changed their property into a Christmas wonderland. The displays are handmade and their most noticeable attraction is a pair of 26-foot tall nutcrackers, that greet you as you make your way to your parking spot. They also have the Santa Cabin and the Candy Cane Café that has free hot cocoa and cookies.
This year they are hosting two separate events for children to get the chance to tell Santa what they want for Christmas.
Scheduled days are December 1-2, and 8-9, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Keltz’s Candy Cane Christmas is located just north of Terre Haute on US- 41 near the Lyford Y.
Owners of the property said they’re excited to see everyone come out.
“We absolutely love it or we wouldn’t be doing this. So and we don’t charge for the kids to see Santa and we have a good Santa. So, you know I’d like to see a lot of kids come,” Dama said.
Last year, the Keltz family had hundreds of visitors and it was worth the wait!
“Over 400 kids last year. Just a string of kids from here out to the sleigh. I think they said it was about a 45 minute wait last year to get in to see Santa Claus,” Kenny said.
“But it’s worth it,” Videographer Ashley Zukokas added.
“It’s worth it, It’s worth it,” Dama and Kenny said.
The Keltz family would also like to make note that they do not take any donations and they do this from the kindness of their hearts.
