MARSHALL, ILL. (WTWO/WAWV) — With Thanksgiving right around the corner, community members are showing their way to give thanks.
New Rivers Church in Marshall, Illinois held their 2nd annual Thanksgiving drive-thru. To-go containers were filled with all your favorite Thanksgiving fixings, like turkey, stuffing, pie, and rolls. Volunteers spent hours preparing the food to help families who might not get a Thanksgiving dinner.
Organizer Djogi Bumba said he’s happy to give back to the community.
“It’s important for us to be able to be the hands and feet of god, and do the work, and meet the need where it is,” Bumba said.
Thursday night New Rivers Church served over 400 dinners to those in need.
