SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — In the mood for some Christmas music?
While Thanksgiving is still to come, many folks are already decking their halls and hitting the high notes with Mariah Carey as they make their plans for the Christmas holiday.
A local concert should help satisfy that craving for all things Christmas.
The Terre Haute Sinfonietta Pops Orchestra will present a Pre-Christmas Concert on Saturday. The event will take place at 2 p.m. in the Cecilian Auditorium in the Conservatory of Music building at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
The concert is said to combine a mix of classical, traditional, and more contemporary Christmas music. “The Nutcracker by P.I. Tchaikovsky, White Christmas by Irving Berlin, O Holy Night and Variations on Joy to the World are among the selections,” a news release reads.
The cost to attend is $10 for adults, $5 for students, while children age 10 and under get in for free. The orchestra asks that everyone attending bring a pair of new socks to donate that can then be given to people in need at Christmas time.
Parking is free, and a very special, jolly, guest is expected to visit during the show.
Dr. Gene E, England, Emeritus Professor of English at Indiana State University and an active volunteer in several arts groups in the community will narrate this concert. Conductors in addition to Music Director ‘James N. Chesterson are Anthony J. Dinkel and Heather Michelle Scott.
