CLARK COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: According to Clark Edgar Rural Water District representatives, the boil order has now been lifted.
Original: Customers of the Clark-Edgar Rural Water District in multiple locations are now under a boil order.
That’s according to the Clark County Health Department, who said an emergency water line repair was to blame for the issue. Customers affected include all of Elbridge Township, part of Symmes, Wabash, Douglas, and Darwin townships.
The order is expected to last until November 13, “provided the first set of samples are found satisfactory,” a news release reads.
Areas affected are as follows;
Beginning in Edgar County going south of Highway 150 and East of Highway 1 to the end of the line at the Illinois /Indiana State line & south to River Rd to the end of the line.
On the west side of Highway 1 going south from East 750th Rd including E 700th Rd, all of Mardale St continuing south & including E 250th Rd to 200 N Rd going west and including N Preston St & 225th Rd then north to the end of the line on Public Well St continuing south including 100 N Rd to the end of the line. Including all of Oliver continuing south including 2050 N to the end of the line continuing south to Blizzard Rd.
From River Rd South of 1330th Rd continuing south to the end of the line.
East Iron Bridge Rd going East @ N Hewitts Rd continuing east to the Illinois/Indiana state line.
The CDC’s guidance for how to properly boil water during these situations is as follows:
- Fill a pot with water.
- Heat the water until bubbles come from the bottom of the pot to the top.
- Once the water reaches a rolling boil, let it boil for 1 minute.
- Turn off the heat source and let the water cool.
- Pour the water into a clean container with a cover for storage.
