SULLVIAN CO., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — There are millions of caregivers across the country. Soon there will be an app, where patients can go for advice.
Teresa Trotter is a longtime Sullivan resident who now shares her time between Indiana and Florida.
She was the caregiver for her parents, who both had Alzheimer’s disease. She created the non-profit, “Caregivers are Angels” and with the help of associates also developed an app.
“Caregiving is a very, very stressful job and especially when it’s your parents that raised you, loved you, took care of you, and then you’re watching their demise. You can not make them well. In the end, they do not know you. It’s heartbreaking,” said Teresa Trotter.
The “Caregivers are Angels” app provides suggestions and tips to help caregivers. People can also ask questions and get a response within 24 hours.
Users can find everything from practical advice to recipes for quick meals.
“Just trying to help the caregiver, that’s all we’re trying to do. And a lot of times, if they need suggestions or they just need somebody to listen, we want to be there for them,” added Trotter.
The app will be available on both iPhones and Androids. It costs $1.99 a month.
