TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Engineering Design Program at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has recently attained ABET accreditation status.
According to a press release, known formerly as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, ABET is a non-profit organization consisting of industry leaders in fields of government and academia committed to their professions.
A panel of ABET experts evaluate programs and make visits to campuses to assess and assure confidence in STEM courses and materials.
Rose-Hulman’s Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Rick Stamper noted the achievement as significant.
“Our Engineering Design program has been breaking barriers in STEM education since its inception, and earning ABET accreditation is another landmark achievement in its evolution,” Stamper said. “Accreditation acknowledges the hard work by our administration, faculty, and staff in establishing a program that meets strenuous STEM education guidelines.”
Rose-Hulman’s Engineering Design program works to prepare students for the future featuring serval design studios and real-world client experience.
“Engineering Design is a major for today’s global and diverse economy. The program is for creative thinkers who want to get busy learning in a hands-on, immersive educational experience – from a student’s first day on campus,” Rose-Hulman’s Engineering Design Director Patsy Brackin said.
