TEUTOPOLIS, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV)– It has been a heartbreaking weekend for Jordan and Megan Elmore.
Their home is located near where the deadly crash and anhydrous ammonia spill took place on U.S. 40 on Friday, killing five people, including a close family friend, Kenneth Bryan, and his two children Rosie and Walker.
The Elmores sat down with WTWO to talk about what they recall from Friday night, and their emotions the past few days.
Megan said her and Jordan were out of town on Friday, but got a call from a friend who told them something had happened near their home.
“Probably a little after 9:00, 9:30. I got a call from Jordan who had a friend who was a part of a roadblock near Montrose, and he informed us that there had been an accident close to our house,” she said.
She added they are not sure what is next for her family.
“As of right now, we have no idea if or when we’ll be able to return home, or what we have that is even going to be salvageable,” she said. “We don’t have anything right now of course because we didn’t plan to be away from home, so we’re just trying to do what we can to get what we need to get by because we can’t access any of our belongings.”
