CLINTON, Ind. (WTWO-WAWV) — Update: The Pour House is no more following a fire that took more than 50 firefighters to battle in downtown Clinton Monday night.
According to Clinton City Fire Chief Chris Strohm, at 8:45 p.m. Monday evening firefighters were dispatched to the Clinton Pour House at 201 S. Main St. for a working structure fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters spotted a large amount of smoke pouring from the building in both the front and rear of the business. Immediately the call for mutual aid was put out with crews from Terre Haute, Fairview, Black Diamond, and Lyford fire departments responding.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Strohm said no one was injured in the fire as the bar was closed at the time of the fire.
Strohm said the building is more than 100 years old and had been occupied by the Pour House for a few years at this point. Strohm estimated that the Pour House is a total loss as a result.
Approximately 50-60 firefighters participated in the battle of the blaze.
Strohm also thanked the community for coming out and providing drinks and snacks and other forms of aid for firefighters during the battle.
Original: Several fire crews are responding to a fire at a restaurant in Clinton.
The Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department and Clinton Police Department say the fire started around 9 p.m. at the Clinton Pour House. The restaurant is located at 201 South Main Street.
No injuries have been reported and its website notes that the business is closed on Mondays. Clinton City Fire, Fairview, Black Diamond, and Lyford Fire initially responded to the scene.
Our reporter on scene spoke with Clinton Fire official Joe Garver. He said the cause is under investigation. Officials are asking people to avoid the area until the fire is out.
