WASHINGTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — After a recent increase in auto theft and vehicle tampering in the area, Washington Police have announced the arrest of a man they believe was the culprit.
According to Washington Police, officers were dispatched Wednesday morning to the area of S.R. 57 and E. Main Street in reference to a vehicle theft that had occurred overnight. Shortly after the investigation began, police located the vehicle near the intersection of Ogdon and Greenwood Streets.
Nearby residents reportedly provided video footage of the area, which led police to identify Aarow Truelove, 20, of Washington as the suspect.
Detectives would eventually locate Truelove on NW 16th Street where he was placed under arrest and preliminarily charged with theft of a motor vehicle and unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle.
Police said they believe Truelove was also the suspect in a separate vehicle theft that occurred earlier this week during which a short pursuit ended with the suspect escaping capture.
Police thanked the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office as well as the Crime Scene Investigating team for their assistance in the investigation.
