TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Firefighters were on scene of a warehouse fire in an industrial park in northeastern Terre Haute.
According to Vigo County Central Dispatch, the fire was located at 4130 Second Parkway. The fire was in a building that is a smaller warehouse located in the back of the nearby industrial park. The incident began around 10 a.m. Friday.
According to Terre Haute Fire Chief Bill Berry, firefighters called for a second alarm before even arriving on scene after seeing the smoke in the distance, and knowing the size of the building.
Berry was impressed with the work of the first two crews on the scene as he said they were able to quickly knock down the fire and began looking for possible fire extensions throughout the building.
No one was inside at the time of the fire. Crews remained on the scene as of 11:30 a.m. and were continuing to clear the building of smoke and making sure there are no unfound fire extensions or the possibility of a rekindle.
A WTWO reporter on scene noted that fire officials had set up a shaded area off of one engine to allow firefighters to cool down.
According to Berry, as of 2:00 p.m., firefighters had left the scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
