TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– The Terre Haute Community Band partnered with another local organization for its free performance at Fairbanks Park on Saturday.
The Terre Haute Academy of Dance, which brought dancers from 3rd through 12th grade, performed alongside the band Saturday night. The theme of the show was “fantastic dances.”
Before the music got underway, Patti Willey, the director for the dance academy, talked about the preparation that allowed the groups to work together.
“I was invited by the new director, Norman Hanson, of the Terre Haute Community Band. He wanted to involve more of the community, so he invited us, gave us some songs, gave us some recordings, and we rehearsed separately, and we just came together tonight and practiced together just now so we’re ready for our show,” she said.
There will be one final show this summer put on by the band. It will be on August 12th, back at Fairbanks Park, where the theme will be “Back Home Again in Indiana.
