CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A 19-year-old has died from injuries sustained in a recent rollover crash in Clay County.
According to Clay County Sheriff Brison Swearingen, the crash occurred near the area of C.R. 700 south and C.R. 100 west at 12:33 a.m. on June 18.
Swearingen said the incident was a single vehicle rollover crash, and said the cause of the crash was unknown. The driver, Stuart Bennett, 19, was then flown to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office has confirmed Bennett died just six days later on June 24.
A large number of local people in the time since the crash have been supporting the man while in the hospital through the sharing of the hashtag #StuStrong.
According to the Wabash Valley Road Runner’s Club, Stuart was a participant of the track and field program at Northview High School before graduating and was the 2022 WVRR scholarship winner.
