TERRE HAUTE, IND. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Council on Domestic Abuse, Inc. (CODA) is
hosting the Canines for CODA event on Sunday, June 4th from 11:00am-2:00pm at the
Fairbanks Park Amphitheater.
This event will include many dog related events including a 1-mile dog walk, music from local bands, artists that will paint pictures of the dogs, tons of great food for the dogs and their owners, and a raffle to boot.
“Dogs are a huge part of my life and the lives of so many that I know, so we wanted to have an event for the dog lovers out there to raise funds for CODA’s operations,” The Executive Director Emily Murray said. “We know that nearly half of victims stay in an abusive relationship rather than leave their pet behind. This is a huge part of the reason that CODA’s Emergency Shelter is pet-friendly when we are able to accommodate.”
CODA is now one of the primary domestic abuse and sexual assault organizations that also includes an emergency shelter, legal advocacy office in the Vigo County courthouse, education division and Outreach Advocate for counties surrounding the Vigo County area.
For more information about this event or other CODA related activities, please contact Emily Murray at 812-234-3441 or visit CODA’s website.
