TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — It was a night of good cooking for a good cause on Saturday at the Hulman Center.
The 15th annual Terre Haute Children’s Museum Top Chef competition took place there, raising money for the museum. This year’s theme was “Taking it to the Beach” and chefs created beach-themed food.
Attendees could get their photo taken in a photo booth and there was also a car auctioned off. Nine teams and over 100 chefs participated, with more than 700 people in attendance.
This is the museum’s largest fundraiser, and this year more than $237,000 was raised.
This year, a portion of the money raised is going to people affected by the Sullivan tornado.
“We are gonna ear mark $10,000 from the proceeds of the event to provide free access to the museum for all the families affected by the storms on March 31 in Sullivan County,” Susan Turner, Executive Director of TH Children’s Museum, said.
Todd Hein with Labor Link was named the “Big Kahuna”, raising more than $18,000. WTWO’s General Manager Tim Sanders also participated.
