CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Crawford County residents affected by the March 31 severe storms and tornado are encouraged to apply for grant money from the Illinois Realtors Association.
State Representative Adam Niemerg said in a release the $500 grants from the association are open due to Governor JB Pritzker’s disaster proclamation that included Boone, Crawford, DuPage, Marion, and Sangamon Counties.
“Anyone can apply and they need to supply only a minimal amount of information. Even someone who leases a home can get the grant,” Rep. Adam Niemerg said. “I encourage everyone in Crawford County impacted by this devastating disaster to apply for this assistance. Thank you to Ron Deedrick and the Illinois REALTORS for this opportunity to help the people in need at this time.”
The monetary assistance is available for qualified applicants and can be used in the following ways:
- Monthly mortgage expenses for the primary residence that was damaged in the March 31/April 1 tornado.
- Rental cost of temporary shelter due to displacement
- Unreimbursed losses directly related to the disaster
- (Insurance deductible, home-related expenses not covered by insurance)
Assistance is limited to $500 per household. The deadline to apply for the grant is July 1.
These grants can not be used for non-housing relief such as vehicle purchase, rental, or repair.
